Performing in the Summer in Arizona can be insanely challenging! In preparing for an outdoor performance with my band, The Mongrels, we got real brave and decided to have a full poolside show rehearsal for friends & family in the middle of the day in the 112 degree Gilbert, AZ heat!
It was a rough experience, but we learned a lot about how to pace ourselves, drink water and electrolytes before we need them and have a towel ready to wipe the dripping sweat out of our eyes - LOL!
Toward the end of the performance, my hands started to cramp up from being dehydrated and the flies and sweat were getting into my eyes, and I had a hard time seeing what I was tapping on my pedalboard. Haha! Anyways, we worked everything out and were more than prepared for the show when the day arrived. The night started at 110 degrees, but we powered through the heat, fueled and hydrated! I'm still getting compliments and song requests for the next time we play Apache Junction's “Concerts In The Park” Series.
